Lanyard Materials and Widths

Flat polyester is the standard lanyard and prints a one or two color logo on one or both sides. Dye-sublimated lanyards print full color through the fabric, so gradients, photos and multiple logos come out sharp. Woven lanyards stitch the logo into the fabric for a premium feel that does not wear off. Nylon and tubular lanyards are softer and cheaper. Widths run from half an inch to one inch, and the three-quarter inch width is the most popular because it gives room for a logo without feeling heavy. Custom made lanyards are produced to order in the material, width and print you choose.

Clips and Attachments

The attachment decides what the lanyard can carry. A swivel J-hook or bulldog clip holds a badge. A split ring carries keys. A carabiner holds a water bottle or a phone case. Detachable buckles let the badge come off without removing the lanyard. A breakaway clip at the back of the neck pulls apart under force and is required in hospitals, schools and factories.

Badge Holders and Reels

Clear vinyl holders are the cheap, flexible standard. Rigid plastic holders protect a card for months of daily use. Leather and leatherette holders suit executive and sales staff. Retractable badge reels keep the card at the belt and pull out to the reader, and they take a printed or domed logo on the face. Magnetic and pin backs hold a name badge on a shirt without a lanyard.

Wristbands for Events

Tyvek wristbands are the disposable paper band for festivals, pools and one-day events, printed with the event name and sold in sequential numbers. Vinyl and plastic bands last several days. Silicone wristbands are the reusable, debossed or printed band for fundraisers and cause campaigns.
